ASKWITH WEST LANE SE 14 NE (north side) 10/12 Sundial Farmhouse and attached barn 22.11.66 - II

House and barn range. House dated 1681, with mid C18 alterations: barn late C18. Coursed squared gritstone, graduated stone slate roofs. House: 2 storeys, 3 bays. Probably end-lobby-entry plan. Quoins. 4-panel door right, long and short quoined jambs and cambered arch to lintel. Ground- floor windows left and centre: paired 16-pane sashes in stone surrounds. First floor: left - 3-light slightly recessed chamfered mullion window, the left mullion removed and a 16-pane sash inserted; centre - similar but a 6-pane sash; far right - oval 9-pane window with inscritpion "RS" on lintel with, to left, a rectangular sundial with numerals and inscription "RS 1681" picked out in white. End stacks. Interior not inspected at resurvey. Barn: 3 bays, projects forward of house. Quoins. Central double board doors, quoined jambs and cambered arch with slightly projecting keystone. Bay 1 (now part of house): C20 windows in plain surrounds to ground floor and first. Bay 3: 3 tiers of 3 slit vents. Gable coping to right. -
