Description
Fern Cottage is a house and shop dating from the 17th century, with a refronting from the 19th century and some alterations made in the 20th century. It features watershot masonry, stone dressings, and a stone slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays. The entrance, located to the right of the centre, has a plain surround and a seven-panel door, which was glazed in 1986. The left-hand window on the ground floor is a two-light flat-faced mullioned window with fixed lights added in 1986. The other windows have plain surrounds and projecting sills, with a fixed light on the ground floor, sash windows on the first floor, and 20th-century casements on the second floor. Modillions are present at the eaves. A right-hand ridge stack is located at the former left-hand gable, marked by projecting quoins. At the rear, there is a 17th-century projecting wing that is shared with Eiliam.
