Description
Eiliam is a house and shop located on the east side of Settle Market Place. It dates from the 17th century but was refronted in the 19th century. The building features watershot masonry with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It has three storeys and two bays. The left-hand entrance has a plain surround and a seven-panel door. All windows have 20th-century casements or fixed lights. To the right, there is a two-light flat-faced mullioned window with a plain surround and a projecting sill, along with similar single-light windows on the first and second floors. The eaves are adorned with modillions, and there is a ridge stack on the right-hand side. At the rear, there is a former two-light double chamfered mullioned window, although the mullion is now missing. A projecting wing, shared with Fern Cottage, has a single-light chamfered window in the gable end and a projecting gable end ridge stack. Inside, there is a three-light chamfered mullioned window at ground level and remnants of two blocked two-light chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds.
