Description

The Summerhouse, formerly known as The Chalet in the grounds of Old Gladstone House, is a summerhouse likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building has an elongated octagonal shape, with three south-facing sides designed as an arcade, complete with imposts. The structure has fixed glazing, except for a central double door, and is topped with a cornice. At the rear, there are added rooms and a small chimney, which were included to convert it into a cottage. Inside, there are seven arched recesses in the blind walls that align with the five windows.
