Description

North Lodge is a lodge, dating from 1923 and designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens as an accompaniment to Gledstone Hall. It is built of snecked rubble with a stone slate roof and takes an Arts-and-Crafts approach to the local vernacular style. The lodge has an L-shaped plan with a porch projecting from the angle. The walls and chimneys are slightly battered, and it is two storeys high. The main, south-facing gable has double chamfered stone mullion windows: eight lights with three king mullions on the lower level, and seven lights with two on the upper level. Similar mullioned windows are found on the other facades. There are two prominent stacks.
