Description
South Lodge is a lodge to Gledstone Hall, built in 1923 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The building is constructed of snecked rubble and features a hipped stone slate roof. It has a symmetrical three-bay design with a storey band. The first floor has widely spaced casement windows, while the ground floor has two small square lights near the door, which have ornamental fixed circular glazing. The entrance features a two-panel raised and fielded door beneath a stone pediment supported by consoles, with a tympanum carved with "ANM," representing Sir Amos Nelson. This lodge provides access to the site of the old Gledstone Hall, which was demolished when the current Gledstone Hall was built across the road.
