Description
Barrel Sykes is a 17th-century farmhouse with a rendered exterior and a slate roof, standing two storeys tall and featuring three bays. The entrance is located to the right of the centre and is framed by a gabled porch that dates to 1864. This entrance has a chamfered door surround and a 20th-century plank door. To the left of the entrance, a stone plinth indicates the oldest part of the farmhouse, which includes two three-light double chamfered windows on the ground floor, both with a continuous hoodmould above. The upper floor has two similar windows, but these lack hoodmoulds. Above the entrance, there is a small chamfered window with a round head. To the right of the entrance, there are two-light recessed flat-faced mullioned windows on each floor. All windows feature sashes without glazing bars. The farmhouse has three ridge stacks made of rock-faced stone, likely from the early 20th century, positioned on the left-hand gable and one on either side of the central bay. A barn is located to the right of the farmhouse.
