Description
Westend House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Riseber Lane in Leyburn. It features a roughcast exterior and a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three first-floor windows. Between the first and second bays, there is a 20th-century six-panel door set in an ashlar surround, which has a sundial on the keystone. The first bay on both floors contains tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, while the second and third bays have sash windows with glazing bars and exposed sash boxes. The house is adorned with shaped kneelers, ashlar copings, and has three chimney stacks located at the ends and between the first and second bays. A report from the North Yorkshire County Visual Building Survey Group identifies a 17th-century core with a hearth-passage plan form.
