Description

No. 16 Wheelgate is a shop building dating from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 20th century. The exterior is painted and rendered, featuring a coped left gable, a moulded kneeler, and brick stacks at either end of the pantile roof. The building is two storeys high with a two-window front. The ground floor has a shop front with plain pilasters on tall pedestals, moulded imposts, and a moulded cornice that sits beneath a roller blind box, which still has its fittings. There is a glazed shop door with an overlight, set back to the right of a half-canted window. At the right end of the shop front, there is a plain door with an overlight. The first-floor windows are two-light casements.
