Stableblock At Mount St John To North East Of House

The stableblock at Mount St John, located to the northeast of the house, was built in 1746 and is constructed from coursed sandstone featuring herring-bone tooling. It has a hipped pantile roof and presents a symmetrical facade with two storeys and seven bays. The building has a plinth and a central carriage entrance that is framed by a Gibbs surround, which has been infilled with a plank door and includes jamb lights beneath a fanlight that incorporates a clock. There are additional entrances in the second and sixth bays, each topped with rectangular fanlights. The ground floor has fixed-light windows, while the upper floor features sliding sash windows. All openings have lintels with keystones, and the windows have cills. A sundial is positioned above the carriage entrance, and the building has stepped eaves.
