Description
West Acre Lodge is an early 19th-century farmhouse, with a later rear wing and subsequent alterations. The main structure is built of coursed, squared stone with herringbone tooling, and has a 20th-century roof covered in artificial slates, with Welsh slates to the wing. It is arranged in a T-shape, with three bays and an off-centre rear wing, plus an outshut to the rear right.
The south-facing garden front has a plinth. The central doorway features a four-panel design, with the top two panels glazed, set beneath an overlight with glazing bars, all within a wooden surround incorporating pilasters, a cornice and panelled reveals. The windows are 16-pane sashes in flush wood frames, with stone lintels and projecting cills. Visible at the eaves are the ends of four iron tie-rods and band. Shaped kneelers are present, with one on the left side broken off. The roof is finished with ashlar coping, and there are end stacks.
The rear elevation is in untooled masonry. A side-sliding sash window is found on the ground floor to the right, and an early 16-pane sash with glazing bars is located on the first floor to the left. The left return displays a sash with glazing bars to the first floor left, and a side-sliding sash to the attic. Inside, the dog-leg staircase has splat balusters to the second flight.
