Description
The Field Barn at Day Lair is a barn and byres dating from the mid 18th century, with a roof that was repaired in the mid 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and features banded stone slates on the roof. The structure consists of three or four bays and has a rear outshut attached to the first and second bays. It includes a plinth and quoins. On the south side, there is a central board door with a quoined surround and a plain lintel. The gable has cyma-shaped kneelers and coping. The rear (north) side has a cart entrance into the outshut, with the lintel at eaves height. The left return features two byre doors. Inside, the barn has queen strut roof trusses.
