Description

This is a house dating from the mid-18th century, situated off Clint Whipley Lane. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and ashlar, with a purple slate roof featuring nine eaves courses of stone slates. The house has two storeys and two bays, with a single-story service building attached to the left. Rusticated quoins are prominent. The central doorway has a 20th-century board door with iron hinges, surrounded by rusticated quoins and a deeply rusticated voussoir lintel. Below, on either side of the doorway, are 12-pane casement windows within sawn-stone surrounds, where the sills have been lowered, breaking the original continuous sill band. The first floor has two 8-pane casement windows in unaltered stone surrounds, with a projecting sill band. The roof features shaped kneelers, gable coping, and banded end stacks. A single-story bay to the left has a central door, partly masked by a 20th-century conservatory (which is not considered to be of special interest), and includes a shaped kneeler and gable coping, alongside the base of an end stack on the left. The façade is noteworthy, representing the original style of mid- to late-18th century small farmhouses in the area.
