Description

Beckside Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with restorations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two stories tall and features a four-bay lobby-entrance plan, along with a two-bay rear wing that is also two stories high.

The farmhouse has recessed-chamfered mullioned windows throughout. There is a two-story porch at the third bay, which has a 20th-century board door and a lintel with a shallow four-centred arch. Above the porch, there is an inscribed stone that reads 'B' ? A --35, a three-light window, and a small circular window in the gable. The ground floor windows, from left to right, consist of three, two, four, and four lights; the second window features a reused lintel inscribed '1686 JT' and has a hoodmould with label stops. The first floor windows have three, two, four, and two lights.

All gables are adorned with shaped kneelers topped with ball finials and coping. There is a large rebuilt stack above the entrance. The rear of the house has 20th-century openings, and the rear wing is likely from the 18th century, having been restored in the 20th century. Inside the main range, there is a large fireplace with a timber bressumer and a moulded ceiling beam.
