Description
Mill Cottages are a pair of cottages and workshops, now derelict, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed squared gritstone and feature a stone slate roof, although part of it has been replaced with corrugated asbestos. The building is two storeys high and consists of two cells. Each cell has a board door on the right side on both floors, with the upper doors accessed by wooden stairs. On the far left, there is a 24-pane sash window in a flush wood frame, with an 8-pane casement window above it. To the right, there is a first-floor door flanked by small-paned workshop windows from the 19th century. All openings have sawn-stone lintels, and there is a brick stack at the left end. The left return features a lean-to addition made of coursed rubble with a pantile roof. Inside, the ground floor is below the current yard level. The building is currently derelict. In 1851, the premises were occupied by handloom weavers.
