Description

The railings and gates enclosing the Chaytor memorial, located next to the west tower of the Church of St Michael, date from the 19th century and are made of cast iron. The enclosure has a five-sided plan and features a four-sided ashlar base that supports the railings. The bars of the railings have square bases topped with circles and finials, and they are connected by a horizontal rail. Iron-twist bars rise at mid-points, joining at the top in semi-circles, from which finials extend and are also connected by a horizontal rail. The design includes octagonal interval columns, and on the fifth side, there is a pair of gates that match the railings.
