Description
Village Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid-18th century, with likely additions and alterations from the mid-19th century, including a heightening of the structure. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick and features a pantile roof.
The farmhouse has a central hallway plan with a rear range and stands two storeys high with three bays. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with a decorative overlight, framed by a pilastered doorcase that includes a frieze and hood. The windows throughout are four-pane sashes set under elliptical arches, with those on the ground floor breaking a three-course band at the first floor. The eaves overhang, and there are end stacks. The gable ends display tumbled-in brickwork.
Inside, there is an 18th-century dogleg staircase with rod on vase balusters, six-panel and plank doors, and beams across most ceilings. The kitchen features a bressumer beam with tongue stops.
