Gravestone. 1781. In memory of Thomas Lonsdale. Gritstone. Single block approximately 1 metre high and 80 centimetres wide; scrolled top. Well-cut inscription: 'Thomas Lonsdale of Sawley departed / this Life August the 1(8)th 1781 aged 70: / He And (his dog) ranged Wood and Dale / H ( ) grew weak and strength did fail / He liked his Dog his Gun his Cup / But now at last has giv'n them up. / His Dog and Gun He's now laid by / And (near?) this Place inter'd doth lie'.
