Description

A watermill, likely dating from the early 19th century. The mill is constructed of coursed squared gritstone rubble, with a Westmorland slate roof and a stone ridge. It is two storeys high, featuring two first-floor windows, with a lower bay to the left. A board door is located in the centre of the main block, alongside a blocked doorway to the left. There is a six-pane fixed window on the first floor to the left and a 20-pane fixed window to the right. The lower bay has two pairs of garage doors, with a six-pane casement window above. At the rear is a lean-to wheelhouse containing a breast-shot wheel. The interior of the main block retains working milling machinery. Detailed drawings and a description of the mill were produced by A Newland from the Department of 3-D design at Leeds Polytechnic in 1973.
