Description

Mount Farm is an 18th-century house constructed of coursed stone with rusticated quoins. It is two storeys high and has a pantile roof with stone verges, shaped corbels, and three brick stacks. The front of the house has three window openings; two are hung sashes with glazing bars, while the central window has been blocked. A small window is located to the left, above an archway. All the windows and the doorway have stone lintels, with triple keystones above the windows. A cavetto moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The central doorway has six fielded panels, a rectangular fanlight above, and leads up a flight of steps. A flat string course runs along the ground floor level, forming an impost block for the rusticated, elliptical-headed carriage entry. The west side of the farm includes an archway. The property is situated within a group that includes numbers 35 to 37 (consec), Mount Royd, numbers 38 to 40 (consec), St Joseph's Presbytery, the Roman Catholic Church of St Joseph, the Church Hall, and numbers 44 to 47 (consec). Numbers 35, 37 and Mount Royd are buildings of local interest within that grouping.
