ALDFIELD MAIN STREET (south side, off) Well-head at Aldfield Spa approximately 700 metres south west of Druids Farm

Covering to well or spring. Mid - late C18. Coursed squared gritstone, stone slab roof. Rectangular in plan, approximately 1 x 1.5 metres and 1 metre high above present ground level. Opening on east side approximately 50 centimetres wide and 70 centimetres high, lintel and 2 jambstones missing. Lead and iron fixings for door on left and right jambstones. Slab roof and capstone with ogee moulding. On east side, outside the entrance to the spa, there are the buried remains of a retaining wall, possibly lining a short flight of steps or paved approach.
