Description
The well head, along with its attached revetment walls and steps, is located approximately 74 meters east of Court Farm. It is constructed of limestone rubble and features a conical shape with a domed top. The well is built into a bank over a natural spring, with stone revetment walls on either side. The entrance arch has thick walls and stands about 2 meters high. Iron hinges in the stonework indicate that the entrance would have originally been gated. Inside the well, there are petrified remains of a wooden shelf positioned opposite the entrance. Stone steps lead down to the arched entrance located in the west elevation. A mid-20th century wall has been added above the well head, but this is not included in the designation.
