Description

Combe Cottage is a late mediaeval cottage, altered and restored in the 1980s. It is constructed of rubble with a thatched roof and rubble stacks. The cottage is a single storey with attics contained within eyebrow dormers. It has three bays, featuring 2- and 3-light casement windows from the 20th century, set beneath exposed timber lintels on the ground floor. An off-centre panelled door provides access. The interior retains a chamfered beam with scroll-stops, and one cruck truss is believed to remain. It is thought that the building was originally a mediaeval open hall house.
