Description
The kitchen garden walls, located approximately 220 metres to the west of Middleton Lodge, are likely from the late 18th century. They are constructed of red-brown brick in stretcher bond and have a square plan, featuring a lower wall on the south-east side. The three main sides stand about 4 metres high and are topped with slab coping. The north-west wall is heated and has a battered base, with a rubble single-storey lean-to bothy, boiler-house, and potting sheds on the outer side. In the centre of the north-west wall, there is a blocked segmental-arched opening with a board door set in a round-arched ashlar surround with imposts. To the north of this opening, there are two round-arched windows, one of which has Gothick glazing bars. Additionally, there are round-arched doorways at both ends of the side walls.
