Description

The north gateway to Middleton Lodge, built around 1770, is a Grade II listed structure designed by John Carr for George Hartley. It features walls, railings, and gates made of ashlar and wrought iron. The flanking walls are shaped in a convex quadrant plan and include a plinth, moulded coping, and cylindrical terminal bollards. Low cross walls support the railings that flank the gates. The railings and gates are adorned with fleurs-de-lys finials on the bars and knob finials on the standards. The gates also display a guilloche motif on the mid-rail.
