Description

Unthank House and the adjoining former barns are a farmhouse and barns that have been converted into a private residence. They date from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The farmhouse features painted roughcast walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof, which has banded stone chimney stacks. The former barns are constructed of red sandstone rubble and also have graduated greenslate roofs.

The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with a single-storey, single-bay extension on the left and lower L-shaped barns on the right. The entrance features a panelled door set within a Tuscan prostyle porch. The windows are double sash with glazing bars, framed in painted stone surrounds, except for a single sash window located above the entrance. The extension includes an additional doorway under a pediment and a sash window, both also in painted stone surrounds. The barns have a sash window and a doorway closest to the house, as well as a segmental doorway in the return wall. Extensions to the left of the house are not considered of interest.
