Description
The Reading Room, located at the adjoining west end of Ivy House, was built by the London Lead Company in 1855 and enlarged in 1859. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features a curved south-west corner. The roof is made of graduated stone flags with stone coping and a corniced chimney at the west end. This single-storey building has a plank door located under an outshut porch on the north side. The south and west sides each have two sash windows with glazing bars set in stone surrounds. Above the windows on the west side, there is a panel inscribed with "LEAD COMPANY'S WORKMEN'S READING ROOM."
