Description

This is a shop projecting into the Market Square at a right angle to the road, dating from the 19th century. It is built of incised stucco, with a hipped roof covered in graduated stone flags and a stone chimney on the north side. The building is three storeys high.

A continuous projecting shop front extends to both the south and east elevations. The south elevation has two bays, with a part-glazed door to the west, a four-light shop window, a recessed part-glazed shop door, and a single light. The east elevation has one bay with a three-light window, and a single light to the north return. Slender Tuscan columns define the window angles, topped by a cornice. The south elevation incorporates one casement window and one wide sash window on the first floor, and two wide sash windows on the top floor. The east elevation originally contained a window opening, now replaced by a projecting bay window which rests on top of the shop front. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding area.
