Description
The Former Barclays Bank, located at No. 19 Boroughgate in Appleby in Westmorland, is a late 19th-century building designed in the Victorian Gothic style. It is constructed of stone, featuring snecked rubble with ashlar dressings and stands three storeys tall. The ground and first floors have pointed arched windows, with paired windows on the first floor supported by marble columns with stiff leaf caps. The top floor also has paired windows, which are topped with triangular heads. A balustraded parapet crowns the building, and there are dormer windows on the roof. Additionally, there is a cast iron balcony on the first floor. The building has a curved angle at No. 17, which includes a doorway and one window on each upper storey.
