Description

Barley Cottage and The Shieling is a late 18th century to early 19th century building located in Appleby in Westmorland. It is constructed from colour-washed stone and features a slate roof, rising to two storeys. The building has segmental-arched doorways and barred upper windows. On the right-hand end, there is a low middle storey. The structure has a long rectangular plan, and the right-hand gable end includes two 12-paned sash windows on the lower level and one on the upper level.
