Description

This is a milestone dating from the early 19th century, made of painted stone. It has a semicircular shape on a square base with broaches at the corners. The inscription reads: "BB: KL/2¼ : 13¼", where "BB" stands for Borrow Bridge and "KL" for Kirkby Lonsdale. There is a benchmark at the top of the milestone. It is located on the Sedbergh to Grayrigg turnpike road, which was established in 1762.
