Description
Cross Cottage and Cross Farmhouse, with an adjoining barn and byre range, is a cottage likely built in the late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. The house and cottage are constructed from pebble-dashed rubble, while the barn and byre range are made of coursed rubble with quoins. The roofs are covered with graduated slate and feature stone ridges, with corbie steps at the west end of the barn and byre range.
The building has a T-shaped plan and consists of two storeys. The cottage is symmetrical with three bays, featuring a central panelled door flanked by sash windows on both floors. The farmhouse has two bays, with a panelled door and a sash window to the right on each floor. All openings have stone surrounds, and there are stone chimneys located in the middle and at the ends of the building.
The north elevation of the barn and byre range has four bays, including a wagon door on the right, two byre doors, and small windows to the left, along with a loft door positioned above and between the byre doors. All doors are made of planks. There is a single-storey byre range that adjoins the west end at right angles, but it is not included in this listing.
