Description
A group of warehouses and manufactories dating from the early 19th century were later converted into dwellings and subdivided. The buildings were extensively renovated and remodelled in the late 20th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble with quoins, and have graduated slate roofs with stone chimneys. The design is asymmetrical, with three storeys and mostly a single bay. Number 16 has a stop-chamfered corner with a cast-iron lamp above. It has part-glazed double doors on the east side, with sash windows to each floor above. A second door is located under a wooden porch accessible by steps on the north return, along with a casement window. Number 19 adjoins number 16 to the north; it features a deeply-recessed part-glazed door and casement windows to the first floor, a single casement to the second, and a paired sash window above. Numbers 18 and 20 are built above a semicircular-headed pedestrian arch that leads to Beast Banks. Number 18 has a casement window to the first floor and a large sash window to the second; above this is a triple sash window with semicircular heads and pilasters. Doors to number 18 are located in a passage and up a ramp to the rear, while the door to number 20 is up a ramp to the rear. Most of the doors and windows are 20th century replacements.
