Description
North Lodge to Abbey House is a lodge built in 1914 for Vickers Ltd, designed by Edwin Lutyens. The building is constructed from red ashlar sandstone and features a graduated slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays, with a short wing at the rear left. The central doorway has a panelled oak door set beneath a round arch with a cornice. The outer bays on each floor contain double-chamfered, four-light mullioned windows with leaded lights and king mullions, while the first-floor windows are shorter. Above the door, there is a matching two-light window. The building also has cast-iron rain-water hoppers with square downpipes and a coped parapet, which includes a gable over the first bay that has a small window. The left end stack features four octagonal flues, while the projecting end stack on the right has two flues that rise from a coped gable. At the rear, there is a mullioned and transomed stair window. The interior has not been inspected.
