Description

This small house, located at No. 1 Skelgate in Barrow in Furness, likely dates from the early 18th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a cement-rendered exterior and a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. The entrance consists of a part-glazed door set beneath a gabled hood supported by brackets, and it is flanked by broad, 20th-century three-light casement windows. The first floor has plain sash windows. A tall chimney stack is situated on the right side of the house. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to reveal an earlier core. This building is included for its group value.
