Description
The building is a house, now functioning as a surgery, located on Cavendish Street in Lower Allithwaite. It was originally listed as Brook House on March 25, 1970. The structure dates back to 1667, as indicated by a court cupboard with a frieze that reads "E M 1667." It is constructed of roughcast stone and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and four bays. Most of the windows are casements, but the second bay on the ground floor has small-paned fixed glazing with an opening light. The fourth bay on the ground floor contains two windows, one of which was originally an entrance. There are two entrances: the first bay features a wide-boarded door with a glazed panel, while the third bay has a half-glazed door. The building has two gable end stacks, with the right one truncated, and a cross-axial stack. The left return has three small windows, and the rear includes various outshuts. Inside, there is a court cupboard and a fireplace with a corbelled lintel and crane. One room has panelling that may date from the early 20th century.
