Description

The Rockery is a house that has been subdivided, likely built in the late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with quoins and features graduated slate roofs. The building is two storeys high and has seven bays in total. The main section, The Rockery, has five bays and includes a part-glazed door with a sash window above it. There are four-light windows on each floor of the gabled bay to the right. The house has been extended into former outbuildings that are set back on the right side, which feature a segmental wagon arch with a two-light window and 20th-century windows on the first floor. A wing projects from the right. The adjoining property, No. 2, has two bays, with a part-glazed door and a sash window to the left and two additional windows above. The rear of No. 2 retains its original windows, including a semicircular-headed stair window, while the rear of The Rockery has a 20th-century door and windows. The original openings are framed with stone surrounds, and there are corniced stone chimneys at the mid and end of the building.
