Description

The Cross and Fish Stone is a Grade II listed structure located in the Square at Lower Allithwaite, Cartmel. This 18th-century monument consists of an obelisk, a bench, and a pump made of stone. It features three square steps leading up to the obelisk, which stands on a plinth. To the east, the fish stone comprises two slabs supported by flat uprights, historically used for the sale of fish. Attached to the east is a pump with a 20th-century wooden casing and a stone trough. The obelisk is situated on the site of a medieval cross.
