Description
Wharton House is likely early 18th century, situated on The Square in Lower Allithwaite, near Cartmel. The house is constructed of roughcast stone with a slate roof. It is two storeys high with three bays. A decorative top frieze and a modillioned cornice embellish the top of the facade. The ground floor windows are sash windows with single glazing bars and horns; the window in the second bay is a paired window. The first floor windows are top-hung casements. A four-panel door serves as the main entrance. A gable-end stack is present. The left return, facing Park View, features two casements and two attic lights.
