Description
Beckfoot is a house consisting of two main sections, built in the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It features snecked rubble construction with rusticated quoins on a plinth and an eaves cornice. The hipped roofs are covered with graduated slate and have corniced stone chimneys. The building is two storeys high.
The symmetrical three-bay section from the 18th century on the right has a serpentine front, with a central French window in a stone surround set back between full-height bay windows. The windows are 16-pane sashes with stone surrounds, and the one in the centre of the first floor is narrower.
Adjoining the south end is the taller two-bay mid-19th century section, which has a full-height projecting porch on the right. This porch features a panelled door and fanlight within an architrave topped by a segmental pediment supported by consoles. The front has sashes with glazing bars, and there are three bays on the south return. The ground floor windows are set in architraves with consoles that support cornices, while the first-floor windows have stone surrounds. Inside, there are panelled inner shutters, panelled doors, and some decorative fireplaces.
