Description
Dene View is a house that consists of two sections built in the 17th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed from sandstone rubble, with the later right part coursed and featuring large quoins on the left side. It has stone-flagged roofs and stands two storeys high, with two bays on each side.
The older left section has paired central doorways, with the left doorway being original and chamfered, and it is flanked by windows that have damaged glazing. There is a pitching hole located at the centre of the first floor. The roof is steeply pitched and features a large chimney stack with cornice bands on the right side.
The taller right section has an off-centre six-panel door set in a tooled alternating-block surround. It also has flanking sash windows (which have lost their bars) on both floors, with tooled lintels and sills. The roof here has a moderate pitch and includes end chimneys.
At the rear, both parts have an outshut, with the older section featuring a small early window. The rear of the old part is now covered in corrugated iron and shows a curved kneeler. At the time of the survey, the older part was being used for storage.
