Description

The Stonard Monument, located approximately 18 meters north of St Cuthbert Church, is a Grade II listed structure. It features a monument with a surrounding wall, commemorating the dates of death from 1840 to 1871. The monument is made of ashlar stone with slate panels and has a tall hexagonal plinth that supports a cap with an urn. The square surrounding wall is low and includes sockets for railings, although the gate and railings are missing. Inscriptions on the monument honor Rev. John Stonard and his family, including prayers and biblical quotations.
