Description
The threshing barn and gin gang, located to the northeast of Spital Farmhouse, is a building that likely dates from the 18th century, with additions and alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features quoins, topped with a graduated slate roof that is hipped at the west end.
The barn has an elliptical-headed wagon door positioned to the right of the center, along with a window and loft access on the far right. The west end of the building was originally single-storey and includes an elliptical-headed door flanked by a window on either side, leading to an added loft above. At the rear, there is a winnowing door that opens into the added gin gang, which has a semicircular plan and features plank doors on either side and four windows at the end. This building is included for its group value.
