Description

Anchorite Well is a spring linked to a medieval hermit. It is surrounded by a coursed, squared rubble enclosure wall that is approximately 4 feet high on the south and west sides, which may be partly medieval in origin. The spring was originally 6 to 7 feet deep but was filled to within 6 inches of the surface in the late 20th century.
