Description
The forecourt walls, railings, and gate in front of Hillside House were likely built in the mid-19th century. The walls are made of coursed rubble and stand about 4 feet high at the sides and around 2 feet high at the front, topped with chamfered copings. The cast-iron railings feature foliate spearhead terminals on rod standards. The central gate has similar terminals on the lock rail, along with later wrought-iron scrollwork on the bottom panel and top rail. This structure is included for its group value.
