Description
Meadow Bank is a house, originally a farmhouse, dated 1764. It is constructed from coursed pink sandstone blocks with rusticated quoins on a chamfered plinth. The roof is made of graduated slate with stone copings and kneelers, featuring cavetto moulding along the eaves. There is one stone and one brick chimney at each end of the building.
The house has a symmetrical two-storey, three-bay elevation with two sash windows that have glazing bars on each floor. The central entrance features a part-glazed door topped by a moulded segmental canopy supported on ornate brackets. The tympanum above the door is initialled and dated I.T. & M.T. 1764. All openings have stone surrounds, and there is a band at lintel level on the ground floor windows. A 18th-century two-light mullioned window is present on the ground floor at the rear. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters on a closed string, square fluted newels, and a ramped handrail.
