Description
The entrance arch, threshing barn, byres, and gin gang located to the northeast of Hall Farm house date back to 1709, as indicated by an initialed date stone. The arch features a pediment with a segmental head and serves as the entrance to the farmyard situated between the house and the outbuildings. The side of the outbuildings facing the yard displays a dated inscription within a moulded frame, decorated with rosettes, stating "William Backhouse Anno Domini 1748." The structure is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with quoins and is topped with a graduated slate roof that includes a skylight. There is a 20th-century lean-to garage at the west end. A central wagon entrance is present under a wooden lintel, while a byre door to the left has a single window on either side. To the right, the semicircular gin gang features a large 20th-century opening on its west side. A lower range of byres, grouped around a small courtyard, adjoins the east end of the building on the side facing the road, and two-storey outbuildings are attached to the west end. All buildings are reported to be residential as of November 16, 2016.
