Description

Thirley Banks Cottage is a farmhouse, later converted into a house, dating to approximately 1800, with subsequent alterations. The construction is of coursed, squared sandstone, topped with a pantile roof. The house follows a central hallway plan, with one room depth, and includes a rear outshut added in 1970. The two-storey front has three windows. The central boarded door is topped with a rectangular fanlight. Six-pane sash windows are on the left side; 20th-century casements with glazing bars are on the right. A small four-pane window is located above the door. All window and door openings have keyed lintels. Features include a stone ridge, coping, moulded kneelers, and end stacks. Inside, the ground floor features exposed grooved beams.
