Description

Thorpe Farmhouse, Thorpe Farm Cottage, and the adjoining barn date primarily from the mid-18th century, with later 18th-century additions. The farmhouse is constructed of calciferous sandstone ashlar, featuring a string course, eaves cornice, and V-jointed quoins. The roof is of graduated greenslate with coped gables, kneelers, and ashlar chimney stacks. A later extension, now Thorpe Farm Cottage, has walls of red sandstone rubble with a graduated greenslate roof, a coped gable, kneeler, and an ashlar chimney stack. The barn is of mixed red and calciferous sandstone rubble with a graduated greenslate roof. The farmhouse's central 20th-century door is set within a bolection architrave, topped by a pediment supported by console brackets. It has sash windows in stone architraves. Thorpe Farm Cottage features a 20th-century door and sash windows with glazing bars in stone surrounds. The barn has a plank door and a blank front wall, with a small pent roof extension to the right.
