Description
Thrimby Hall is a farmhouse dated 1673, with another date and initials over the entrance indicating 1745. The building features pink sandstone rubble walls with raised quoins and an eaves cornice, set on a chamfered plinth. It has a graduated greenslate roof with coped gables and kneelers, along with banded sandstone chimney stacks, two of which have been partly rebuilt in brick. The structure is two storeys high and consists of seven bays.
An off-centre 20th-century door is set within a bolection architrave in a doorcase that has fluted pilasters and a broken segmental pediment. The windows are flat, two-light stone-mullioned, likely originally with transoms, and are framed in stone architraves. A 20th-century glazed porch covers a 20th-century door in a stone architrave. The rear outshut was probably added in 1745.
Inside, the left kitchen area features a late 17th-century segmental-arched stone fireplace complete with a brick oven and recesses. To the right of the fireplace was a spiral staircase leading to the first floor and attic, which is now blocked. The ceiling in this area has 17th-century beams. The right room was altered around 1745, featuring a projecting stone fireplace and a moulded plaster ceiling. Throughout the building, there are 18th-century panelled doors. The left concrete barns are not of interest.
